WHO ARE WE?

A little background

Over the years, Canada has grown to be an eminent nation known for having a multicultural society. This multiculturalism stems from its deep roots in centuries of immigration, so, its diversity is attributed to the nation’s distinctive features. However, the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) sector does not reflect this diversity. According to Statistics Canada, Canada is a multicultural nation, having over 36 million people, with one in four Canadians, being racialized (that is, South Asian, Chinese, Black, Filipino, Arab, Latin American, Southeast Asian, West Asian, Korean and Japanese populations). However, these racialized groups remain underrepresented, especially in the female metrics in the STEM workforce.

“Every time a woman stands up in science, technology, engineering, or math, she widens the path for others to follow.”

According to Statistics

The total percentage of Canadian females in the STEM workforce is less than a quarter, which is low given the total workforce in STEM. Though this number has improved significantly over time compared to the 1900s, we believe there’s still room for improvement, especially for marginalized groups.

How we plan to Improve these numbers

The total percentage of Canadian females in the STEM workforce is less than a quarter, which is low given the total workforce in STEM. Though this number has improved significantly over time compared to the 1900s, we believe there’s still room for improvement, especially for marginalized groups.
